What is this course about?

Mindful Parents & Educators (MP&E) is a three-hour introduction to See Hear Feel (SHF)—a simple, flexible mindfulness technique you can use with children and for your own steadiness in daily life.

Instead of requiring long meditation sessions, See Hear Feel fits naturally into play, routines, and caregiving moments. Through about one hour of video presentations, plus guided practices, self-guided exercises, reflection prompts, and short readings, you’ll learn how to bring mindfulness into real, everyday situations.

The course unfolds in three layers:

1. Practicing See Hear Feel with Children

Learn how to introduce mindfulness playfully by modeling SHF out loud—helping kids copy, echo, and internalize the simple pattern of noticing one thing at a time.

2. A Shared Language of Awareness

Explore how SHF builds concentration, clarity, and equanimity—and how to name these “awareness powers” in kid-friendly ways. You’ll also try new variations of SHF through guided and in-motion practices.

3. Applying SHF as Caregivers

Discover how SHF can support your own emotional balance using three attentional modes—Out, In, and Rest—so you can meet caregiving moments with more calm and choice.

What you’ll take away:

The goal isn’t to turn adults or children into “perfect meditators.” It’s to create simple, repeatable moments of awareness that strengthen our relationships and our resilience. When grown-ups practice out loud, children learn to tune in to their own experience as a natural part of daily life. Together we can help cultivate the foundations of a more mindful generation.

Testimonials

This class was transformative! At a time in my life, with two kids under 4, I knew something needed to change and this class came to the rescue. I was struggling with a lot of newly developed anger that I hadn’t experienced before, it was new territory for me. This class helped me focus on things with a whole new perspective. Charlie is a fantastic, clear instructor and I left each class feeling renewed.”

“My own practice directly inspires and motivates new ideas for how I can actively incorporate MP&E techniques into early childhood pedagogy. When we all work together to heighten our individual and collective awareness in this way, our skillful togetherness deepens and the classroom community is strengthened.”

“The course was an introduction to mindfulness to me. It jumpstarted my meditation practice, which has helped feel more aware and grounded every day. One huge benefit has been increased patience and connection with my kids. My daughter and I practice mindful activities often, from mindful eating to mindful walks where we focus on listening and looking. It’s a great way for us to spend time together.”

“The class has definitely helped me to be more present and less reactive, both with the kids that I work with as well as my own kids who are older. It has definitely benefited me in my daily life.”
